News Archives - 2012

This weekend saw the GS crossers head to Ferndale, WA for the Cross Border Clash - a CX double header pitting yanks against canucks. While we didn't bring home any podiums, we sure got our share of Trader Joes chocolate covered potato chips (yes, they actually exist, and Morgan probably now has the largest stockpile in Canada).

It was an incredible course, taking racers through singletrack, pump track, a few dirt jumps, a sandpit, and a big ol' flyover.

The BC Cyclocross Championships were this past Sunday and Glotman Simpson Cycling had many riders representing the yellow, grey and black while seeking Provincial glory.

The course turned into a proper mud pit thanks to the torrential downpour for most of the morning. GS riders did very well negotiating the slick course to make for a great day of racing.

Special congratulations to Bob Welbourn who won the Masters 40–49 category!

BC CX provincial champs were held on a wet and muddy course in North Van this past Sunday and GS crossers (GSX?) could be seen in many of the categories. The course was rife with greasy off-camber sections, hub-deep mud pits, stair run-ups, and curbs – all the things that make ‘cross racing so much fun.

GS was well represented in many of the categories, and also in the throngs of enthusiastic spectators/hecklers.

The Cycling BC AGM will take place this Saturday Sunday December 2nd at 1:00pm (see below for more details about the rescheduling).

The BC Provincial Cyclocross Championships are this Sunday October 21, 2012 at Mahon Park in North Vancouver. Come out and watch the best of the best race for glory!

The 2012 Cypress Challenge was another successful year raising more than $150,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Research.  Thank you to everyone who participated!

We have been working hard behind the scenes and have some interm results and finish photos, please take a moment to review your result and/or download your finish photo (if available). Photos have been matched up (the best we could) to your finishing time, with a link provided beside your result entry if available.  New this year we have also created dedicated finisher photo browser, which provides another avenue to search this or a previous year's photo.  If we were unable to match a photo to your finish time, you can always check our flickr gallery, which contains all photos taken at the finish line (photos are ordered by capture time).

Unfortunately, no matter how well you plan and prepare sometimes life gets the better of you.  This year we had some timing inconsistences and as a result it appears some individuals have been missed.  We are currently investigating the nature of the situation.  We will post more information, once we have a better grasp of the situation.

Finally, we are interested to hear your experiences and stories at this years Challenge. Did you surprise yourself or overcome personal challenges? We will be compiling stories and republishing on our site.

Thank you to all our participants and volunteers!

Another successful weekend of racing for Glotman Simpson Cycling at the TNA Westside Classic.

A big contingent of riders took part in the prefondo. And I have it on good authority that a good time was had by all.

Ted Matson rode away from the Masters in the first 100m and cruised to a spectacular solo victory.

Michaels Goodman and Dew made the podium in the men's Cat 4 race.

Erin Redl took a cool second in the ladies 1/2/3 race.
